Serious and fatal crashes in 15068, 2005–2024

PennDOT recorded 150 crashes from 2005 through 2024 that killed or seriously injured someone in the three cities: 73 in Lower Burrell, 70 in New Kensington and 7 in Arnold. They killed 38 people and seriously injured 145. From 2020 through 2024 there were 44 such crashes, which killed 7 people. Of the 146 crashes with a mapped location, the most were on Leechburg Road (16), Stevenson Boulevard (12) and Greensburg Road (11), where 6 people died, more than on any other road. Sixteen of the mapped crashes hit a pedestrian; those crashes killed 3 people.

What kind of crashes
The most common were angle crashes (45), crashes into a fixed object (39), crashes that hit a pedestrian (16), rear-end crashes (15) and head-on crashes (14). The other 17 were non-collision crashes, opposite-direction sideswipes, other crashes and same-direction sideswipes. Angle crashes killed the most people, 15. For their number, head-on crashes were the deadliest: 5 people died in 14 of them. Sixteen of the mapped crashes hit a pedestrian; those crashes killed 3 people.

From 2020 through 2024 there were 44 such crashes, which killed 7 people: 24 in New Kensington, 20 in Lower Burrell and 0 in Arnold. In the five years before, 2015 through 2019, there were 35, which killed 6.
