If you found a pet
- Found a dog: call the police non-emergency line, animal control or the dog warden. Pennsylvania law says a found dog goes to a licensed stray-hold kennel, where it’s held at least 48 hours so the owner can reclaim it.
- Ask a vet or the shelter to scan it for a microchip, then look the number up on the AAHA lookup ›

- Found a cat: call Animal Protectors, or contact Kiski Valley Cat & Kitten Rescue ›

County humane society
Humane Society of Westmoreland County. Report a lost or found pet to the county humane society and check whether it has taken the animal in.
Dog licenses
Westmoreland County Treasurer, dog licenses. Buy or renew a county dog license, and call about a Westmoreland license tag on a found dog.
PA Dept. of Agriculture, Dog Licenses. Look up the state dog-license rules. A current license tag is one of the fastest ways to get a lost dog home.
